The structure of veneer plywood consists of minimum 3 wood veneers glued together crosswise.

The small length shrinkage and the large width shrinkage now lie on top of each other in the width and length dimensions. 

The individual layers of wood are prevented from working by the fixed gluing - they are blocked off. 

Veneer plywood therefore has greater strength and dimensional stability than solid wood.
